Stratford District Secondary School travelled to the University of Western Ontario for the WOSSAA Track & Field Championships Thursday, May 19th and Friday, May 20th. The Golden Bears enjoyed much success—winning 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals. SDSS had 7 individual athletes qualify in 8 events for next week's Regionals meet in Windsor. Daniel Ogilvie was a double-gold medallist in the junior boys 1500m and 3000m races.
SDSS coach Kerry Thompson did an exceptional job convening both the Huron Perth and WOSSAA championships. Golden Bears students volunteered to help with registration, distribution of awards, and running events. Coaches and athletes alike were grateful to be back competing after a two-year hiatus.
